1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of the State Mover browser extension and this website. By installing or using the extension you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install it.

2. What State Mover is

State Mover is a browser extension that reads selected localStorage and sessionStorage keys from a web page you have open, and writes selected keys into a web page you have open. It runs entirely inside your browser. There is no accompanying service, account, subscription or server.

3. Licence

The extension is released under the MIT licence. That licence, reproduced in full on the licence page, is what grants your rights to use, copy, modify and redistribute the software. Where these terms and the MIT licence differ on your rights to the software, the MIT licence governs.

4. Cost

State Mover is free. There is no charge, no paid tier, no in-extension purchase and no advertising. Nobody will ever ask you to pay for it, and any copy demanding payment is not ours.

5. Acceptable use

You are responsible for how you use the extension. In particular, you agree not to use it to:

• access accounts, sessions or data you are not authorised to access;
• copy credentials or session tokens belonging to another person without their informed consent;
• circumvent authentication, licensing or access controls on any system;
• breach a website's terms of service, an employer's policy, or any applicable law.

The extension cannot tell an authorised transfer from an unauthorised one. That judgement, and its consequences, are yours.

6. Your data and your snapshots

The extension collects nothing. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Snapshots you export are yours and are handled entirely by you. A snapshot can contain a live session token, which is effectively a copy of that session. Storing one insecurely, committing one to a repository or sharing one is a risk you take on, not one we can mitigate.

7. Overwriting and data loss

Importing a snapshot overwrites existing storage keys of the same name on the target page. Web applications can behave unpredictably when their stored state is replaced with state from elsewhere, including logging you out, corrupting local drafts or clearing cached work.

Use the extension on environments where that is acceptable, and export a snapshot of the target's current state first if you might want to get back to it.

8. No warranty

State Mover is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with any particular website, or that it will meet your requirements.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, revenue, business or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use State Mover, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Indemnity

You agree to hold the author harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the extension in breach of these terms or of any applicable law.

11. Third-party websites

State Mover operates on websites run by other people. We do not control them, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, behaviour or terms. Extension store listings are governed by the store operator's own terms in addition to these.

12. Availability and changes

This is a personal open-source project maintained on a best-effort basis. There is no service level, no support commitment and no guarantee of future updates. Features may change or be removed between versions; the changelog records what changed.

We may revise these terms. The current version always lives at this URL with its date at the top. Continuing to use the extension after a revision means you accept it. Because the software is MIT licensed, a revision to these terms cannot retroactively restrict rights the licence already granted you in a version you hold.

13. Termination

You may stop using State Mover at any time by removing it from your browser. That is the whole of it; there is no account to close and nothing of yours held anywhere.

14. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect and the unenforceable provision is applied to the maximum extent permitted.
